Great British Bake Off judge Paul Hollywood isn’t just waiting around for the show to start filming again, oh no.

The 53-year-old is putting his judging skills to work (well, practice makes perfect and all that) and was seen getting involved with a cake competition in his local pub.

Paul stopped by Chequers pub in Kent, where he lives when he’s not in the baking tent of dreams, and judged the efforts of some of the locals who had pulled out all the stops to make their own Bake Off worthy creations.

His appearance seemed to draw in a crowd and it looks like there was a bit of a spread for Paul to tuck into.

Ugh, it’s a hard life.

Fans recently saw GBBO go through yet another shake up, as comedian Sandi Toksvig revealed she has quit as host.

Reports have claimed that she was ‘unhappy’ for a while working on the series, while Sandi explained in her exit statement that she now wants to focus on different opportunities.

She said: ‘Unusually I am departing from the Great British Bake Off so I can spend more time with my other work. As my waistline will testify, Bake Off is an all-consuming show.’

Her departure means that Noel Fielding is now without a number two, but Channel 4 have confirmed that Sandi will be replaced in time for the new series.

Paul has confirmed that he’ll be sticking around, with a rep for the star telling Metro.co.uk: ‘I can confirm that Paul will remain on GBBO for next year.’

He has been judging the show alongside Prue Leith, ever since Mary Berry’s exit following Bake Off’s channel move from the BBC in 2016.

Mary decided to leave the show out of loyalty to the BBC, along with show hosts Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins who told fans they wouldn’t be ‘following the dough’ on their exit.

They had been involved with the series, as has Paul, since the very beginning of Bake Off way back when in 2010.
