Paul Hollywood and his estranged wife Alexandra have reportedly chosen to end their court battle and settle their differences privately through arbitration.

The couple, who were married for two decades before splitting in 2017, had previously been arguing regarding family finances since their divorce proceedings began.

Lawyers representing the Hollywoods have since told the Central Family Court in London that the two had decided to go to arbitration to resolve disagreements privately.

Jude Martin O’Dwyer, who oversaw a private hearing at the court, said the decision was ‘sensible’ and he was ‘entirely supportive’ of it.

Earlier this year, Alexandra filed for divorce on the grounds that Paul had committed adultery.

District Judge Robert Duddridge granted the two a decree nisi in July, after hearing that Alexandra had found it ‘intolerable’ to live with the Bake Off judge.

A week-long trial to resolve contested financial remedy proceedings was previously set to begin on 22 July, but it was later confirmed that the trial would no longer go ahead.

Alex had previously argued she was entitled to half of her ex-husband’s £10 million fortune – but Paul was apparently ‘not prepared’ to give her the amount she wanted.

‘This is more like months rather than weeks off now, Paul isn’t prepared to give Alex the reasonable sum that she is entitled to at this stage,’ an insider told Mail On Sunday.

‘She had hoped it would be straightforward but is now far from that.’

Paul had met Alexandra in Cyprus in 1996, while the two were both working at a five-star hotel, and quickly got engaged.

They eventually got married in 1998, and welcomed their son Josh in 2001.

In 2017, the couple confirmed they were to separate, saying: ‘It is with sadness that we have decided to separate.

‘Our focus continues to be the happiness of our son, and we would ask the press and public to allow us privacy as a family during this very difficult time.’

Following his split from Alex, Paul started dating 24-year-old Summer Monteys-Fullam.

However, the two subsequently called it quits in August, with the 53-year-old drawing up a non-disclosure agreement banning the barmaid from discussing their sex lives, his wealth or their private lives.

It was previously reported that Paul also asked Alex to sign a gagging order, with him wanting her to remain silent once their divorce is officially finalised.
