Patrick Mahomes and fiancee Brittany Matthews have welcomed their first child, a baby girl named Sterling.

The quarterback introduced his daughter to the world on Instagram Sunday, sharing a pictured of him his little one holding onto his finger while mom’s hand rested on top. 

Around her neck, she wore a sparkling necklace with her firstborn’s name on it.

‘Sterling Skye Mahomes,’ the 25-year-old Texan wrote, adding that she was born Saturday and weighed in at 6lbs 11oz.

The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback and his longtime love have dated since they both attended Whitehouse, Texas’s Whitehouse High School, going to the prom in 2013.

Mahomes and Matthews got engaged last year at Arrowhead Stadium as the signal-caller and his teammates collected their Super Bowl rings for 2020. 

Mahomes, who signed a 10-year, $503 million contract extension with the Chiefs last summer, again led his team to the Super Bowl in 2021, but fell short against Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Bucs earlier this month.

The new parents received well wishes from a number of people, including Patrick’s younger brother Jackson, who took to Instagram Stories to welcome his new niece.

‘I’m so happy for you guys and can’t wait for all the adventures and happy times … Love you 3.’ Jackson said Sunday, predicting Patrick would ‘be the best dad’ and Brittany ‘will be the best mom!’

Speaking with The Drive last fall, the superstar athlete said he was comfortable in evolving into a a family man with the new baby.

‘I think it’s just about growing up, about having the responsibility and evolving as a family,’ he said. ‘I think we’ve done that – me and Brittany, and the people around me – and I’m just excited for the future ahead of being able to keep building and keep becoming a better person for my family and this world.’

Speaking with KCSP 610 Sports Radio in December, said that a difficult 2020 was made special by his engagement in addition to his Super Bowl victory.

‘Those things are special, that you don’t get to happen a lot in your life,’ he said. ‘Being able to be a dad and being able to get married here soon, I’m truly thankful for that. I mean, the Super Bowl was awesome as well, but those things change your life, and it’s bigger than football.’

He said he was hoping to be ‘best father I could possibly be’ in his initial foray into parenthood.

‘This will be a new thing for me, first-time dad. Being able to experience that and go through that, I want to do whatever I can to make our little girl’s life as best as it can possibly be.’
