THREE tourists have been left injured with one in critical condition after a ride malfunction on a log flume in California.
It is thought that a water pump failure caused the problem, which resulted in a lack of water to slow the ride down.
The incident took place on the Log Ride at Castle Park in Riverside California.
According to the report by the local fire department, the log ride “flipped over” after going down a steep incline with three people, a woman, a man and a child, inside.
The female passenger was thrown from the ride, while the two other riders were also retrieved from the water.
In the report, it states that the woman remains in critical condition, while the male passenger and child passenger had minor to moderate injuries.
According to ABC, the 10-year-old passenger suffered a cut to his ear and some head injuries while the male adult passenger had scrapes to his arm and back.
The ride has since been closed while an investigation is launched.
A witness told the Sacramento Bee: “All I saw was, just, essentially, legs falling out of the boat. Cartwheels out of the boat.
“And down into the water. Everybody was just screaming and panicking.”
A statement by Castle Park was posted on their Facebook page following the incident: “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family involved in the incident at Castle Park on May 25.
“Safety has always been our highest priority.
“Our rides are thoroughly inspected and tested every day before they are opened to the public.
“We are conducting a full investigation into the cause of the incident on the Log Ride and are fully cooperating with the California Department of Occupational Safety and Health. The ride will remain closed. “
