Parineeti Chopra calls for Marvel’s first Indian superhero film – and wants Alia Bhatt and Shraddha Kapoor to star with her

Deepika Padukone recently sent fans into a spin after calling on Marvel to make the first ever Indian superhero film.

And Parineeti Chopra has supported her fellow Bollywood star, explaining she would love to join the Avengers gang at some point.

The 30-year-old – who is starring alongside Akshay Kumar in new release Kesari – revealed she wants in on the superhero genre.

‘Absolutely, that’s exactly what I would like to do,’ she told Metro.co.uk exclusively.

‘I would love to be in a superhero series, of course, we’ve grown up with those stories. We’ve read them, we’ve watched them, we’ve loved them.

‘I would absolutely love to do something like that.’

And she revealed she already has her dream co-stars in mind for the gig.

‘I think Alia Bhatt, Shraddha Kapoor and I,’ she said when asked about her dream cast. ‘We’re contemporaries and friends, we’ve always been named together since we started our careers.

‘I would love to do a film [like that] with Alia and Shraddha. We’re friends as well.’

We need to make this happen ASAP.

When asked why she thinks there hasn’t been a superhero film exploring Indian characters, she continued: ‘I don’t know, I would’ve been a producer if I knew that!

‘But I’m sure it’s going to come very soon.’

Honestly, someone get Marvel on the phone.

As well as dreaming of superheroes, Parineeti recently starred in Kesari, an action film about the battle of Saragarhi, in 1897.

Priyanka Chopra’s cousin plays Jeevani Kaur – Akshay Kumar’s wife – in the movie, and admitted that, despite not having a huge role in the feature, she had the best time on set.

‘It’s one of the most pleasurable and memorable films I’m going to get to be a part of. It’s just such a special film about such an amazing character in Indian history, and it’s the first film I didn’t care about my screen time or number of scenes.

‘It’s made me very greedy as an actor. I want to do more of this genre, I would love to do a period drama, and I’m extremely excited that people can see something new from me.’

And she had nothing but praise for her co-star, explaining he had her in stitches behind the scenes.

‘He’s really one of the most relatable superstars. He’s absolutely grounded and real. Our backgrounds are similar so we got along really, really well,’ she added.

‘I cannot explain how much [fun] it was. When we were shooting our last song, we were expected to be romantic with each other, because couples at that time were shy in front of each other…

‘We were expected to do those kind of things, but we would always prank the crew by doing something absolutely absurd on set, something no one expected us to do. They would enjoy the shoot so much more because of all these silly things we did on set.

‘I will always keep those memories. It was an amazing shooting experience.’

Kesari is out in cinemas now.
