Parasite’s shock win at the Academy Awards delighted movie goers, with the Korean film becoming the first movie not in the English language to win best picture.

But for all its acclaim, it seems Donald Trump is not a fan – and he’ll like it even less after seeing what Parasite’s distributors make of him.

Neon, which distributed the Bong Joon Ho directed film, has branded the President illiterate after he questioned why a film from South Korea won over English language movies at the Oscars.

Trump had a campaign rally in Colorado Springs, Colorado on Thursday, where he took a pop at the movie, which won best picture, best international picture, best director for Bong Joon Ho and best original screenplay earlier this month.

The 73-year-old raged: ‘By the way, how bad were the Academy Awards this year, did you see it?’

Amidst boos, The Donald continued: ‘And the winner is… a movie from South Korea. What the hell was that all about?

We got enough problems with South Korea with trade, on top of it they give them the best movie of the year. Was it good? I don’t know.’

Naming some of his favourite Oscar winners, POTUS said: ‘Let’s get Gone With The Wind, can we get, like, Gone With The Wind back please? Sunset Boulevard, so many great movies.

‘”The winner is, from South Korea…” I thought it was best foreign film, best foreign movie. No… did this ever happen before?’

Well, no, that was how it made history…

The distribution company behind Parasite didn’t seem too sad that Trump didn’t think it worthy of the best picture Oscar.

Neon’s Twitter account re-shared the video of Trump’s rally and tweeted: ‘Understandable, he can’t read.’

They also gave us a glimpse of the world we want to live in with the hashtag #Bong2020. Can you image a purer president?

If it’s any consolation to the cast and crew of Parasite, Trump wasn’t happy with Brad Pitt’s best supporting actor win for Once Upon A Time In Hollywood either, after the actor mentioned POTUS’s impeachment trial in his acceptance speech.

Trump told the rally crowd: ‘And then you have Brad Pitt, I was never a big fan of his. He got up, said a little wise guy thing. He’s a little wise guy.’

All in all – Trump, not an Oscars fan.

Already a huge hit following its Palme D’Or win at Cannes and plenty of buzz, Parasite has become a phenomenon in recent weeks, becoming one of South Korea’s highest grossing films ever and gaining over $200 million (£153m) worldwide.

The black comedy thriller involves a poor family who attempt to get employed by a much wealthier family by infiltrating their household one by one.
