CELEBRITIES seem to be constantly moaning about how hard they have it, but Paloma Faith has insisted being a pop star is a walk in the park compared to motherhood.
The Gold singer is pregnant with her second child but is not keen on taking maternity leave when the tot arrives next year because getting back to her day job is much easier.
Ahead of last night’s virtual Attitude Awards, she said: “I’m not the type of person that has a break and, actually, having a baby is harder than working.
“So if I take some time off I’ll probably be more exhausted by a baby and desperate to get back to work for a rest.”
And she certainly has a busy 2021 on the cards, with plans for a third series of her American telly crime series Pennyworth, as well as a tour next September.
She added: “Penny-worth takes up six months of the year, which leaves the other six months for music, which at the moment I feel is fair.”
Paloma, who already has a daughter with her partner Leyman Lahcine, also told of her cravings — and trying not to put on too much extra timber.
Asked about what foods she longs for, Paloma said: “It’s gherkins and Marks & Spencer’s cheese tasters.
“Luckily they do a reduced- fat version because I’m getting through the packets.
“Thankfully I’m a proud owner of a very regular delivery slot.”
Paloma performed and also received the Honorary Gay award at last night’s Virgin Atlantic Attitude Awards sponsored by Jaguar, which you can watch back on YouTube.
Dua Lipa won the Music Award and Taylor Swift and Stephen Fry were honoured with Icon gongs.
But away from her glitzy lifestyle, Paloma is looking forward to a quiet Christmas which will include no alcohol for her — or Santa.
She explained: “There’s quite a lot of addiction in my family so we’ve got a policy that we’ll never leave Santa out an alcoholic beverage because he’s probably too drunk to get to all the houses.
“So we always leave him some- thing refreshing, like a soft drink, so he can sober up a bit and make sure he makes it to everyone.”
Please feel free to send the booze my way instead, Paloma.
