Owen Wilson’s ex-girlfriend has made a public plea for the actor to spend time with their daughter, alleging the actor has never met the one-year-old.
Varunie Vongsvirates gave birth to a baby girl, named Lyla, in October 2018 and a paternity test reportedly later determined that Owen was the father.
The Wedding Crashers actor dated Varunie on and off for five years and split before Lyla was born.
Although Owen has never publicly commented on the situation, Varunie claims he’s never met their daughter.
Speaking to the DailyMail.com, Varunie said: ‘Lyla needs a father. It’s ironic how [Owen] keeps getting these father roles, he’s playing a father in his new movie, and he’s never met his own daughter.’
In 2017, Owen starred in the film Father Figures which told the story of two fraternal twin brothers who embark on a mission to find their dad whom their mother falsely said had died.
The 50-year-old also played a father in 2017’s Wonder, about a boy with facial differences who attends a mainstream school for the first time.
Calling for Owen to make contact with Lyla, Varunie added: ‘You should see your daughter, she’s incredible, you’re really missing out. She looks just like you.’
Owen is already father of two sons, Robert, eight, whom he shares with ex-girlfriend Jade Duell, and Finn, five, from his former relationship with Caroline Lindqvist.
It was first alleged that Owen had never met Lyla back in November 2018.
A source previously told Us Weekly that Owen had ‘checked the no visitation box in court in June’ and did not want ‘any custody of her’ after he was reportedly found to be the father.
Another insider praised Owen as a great father to his sons Robert and Finn, saying: ‘Owen has been a great father to his boys and has maintained a warm and close relationship with their mothers.
‘Of course, if a paternity test establishes that he is the father of another child, he will fulfill all of his obligations to support his child.’
At the time, Varunie said: ‘The baby looks just like Owen. She has fair skin, blonde hair and blue eyes.’
Owen’s reps have previously refused to address the situation publicly and said last year: ‘This is a private matter and it’s not appropriate to comment further.’
