DreamSeat’s Zipchair Gaming brand has been announced as the Overwatch League’s official chair supplier, with branded team chairs also available for fans to purchase.
The deal runs from the current 2019 playoffs through the entire 2020 season, with each team using its branded Zipchair Gaming Xpression gaming chairs during competition. The same chairs are also now available for purchase from the Zipchair website.
As the name hints, Zipchair Gaming’s chairs have a hidden zipper design that lets owners quickly unzip and switch out the visible logo patch. That will make it easier for the Overwatch League to have branded chairs for all teams regardless of venue—especially with the move to teams hosting matches in their home markets throughout the 2020 season.
“Partnering with DreamSeat allows us to brand our on-stage chairs for each team, without having a different set of chairs for every one of our teams,” said Activision Blizzard Esports Director of Global Partnerships, Anthony Theoharis, in a release. “We’re excited to be working with a company that shares our passion for professional sports and for the Overwatch League brand. We’re pleased to be able to provide a way for our fans to purchase the exact same chair the Overwatch League professionals compete in”
Zipchair Gaming will activate at the 2019 Overwatch League Grand Finals at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia on Sept. 29, allowing attendees to try out and purchase chairs. According to a release, the company is also working with Overwatch League teams on their respective venue plans for 2020 homestand events.
Zipchair is also partnered with traditional sports leagues such as the NBA, NHL, MLB, and the English Premier League, and sells branded gaming chairs from teams in each.
