Paris Jackson’s upcoming portrayal of Jesus as a lesbian woman has ruffled a few feathers – over 277,000 of them to be precise.

After the news broke that Paris would be playing the controversial role in new movie Habit, according to Deadline, people started petitioning for the film not to be shown.

According to Deadline, the independent film stars Bella Thorne and ‘is about a street smart party girl with a Jesus fetish who gets mixed up in a violent drug deal and finds a possible way out — by masquerading as a Nun.’

The Change.org petition was started a week ago and has already amassed over 277,000 signatures of people wanting the film to be banned.

The petition states: ‘A new blasphemous Hollywood film is predicted to come out soon depicting Jesus as a lesbian woman.

‘The film “Habit” stars Paris Jackson who plays the role of “lesbian Jesus”. Distributors haven’t picked it up as of yet, so let’s please spread awareness and wake people up to the Christianophobic garbage that is spread nowadays, but is somehow accepted and praised by society.’

Paris, daughter of Michael Jackson, is set to star alongside Bella and Gavin Rossdale in the movie, which currently does not have a release date.

Singer Sia showed her solidarity with Paris after the backlash, tweeting: ‘Dear @ParisJackson I love you, keep going. I believe you are a good person.’

Paris also recently opened up about her sexuality in her new series on Facebook Watch, Unfiltered: Paris Jackson and Gabriel Glenn, saying she identifies as gay despite dating a man.

She explained: ‘Homosexuality, in general, is very taboo in the Black community. So that, on top of the religious aspect, it was something that I did feel like I needed to withhold for a while.

‘And then the first time I came out to a family member they, like, didn’t believe me.’
