Outraged family claim £9,000 TUI holiday to Jamaica was ruined by blood-stained sheets and daughters ‘being offered drugs at the hotel pool’

A MUM’S £9,000 dream trip to Jamaica turned into the holiday from hell after she claimed her teenage daughters were offered drugs at the hotel swimming pool and found blood on their bed-sheets.

Michaela Travis, 38, added that there were also drunk people twerking by the pool whilst blasting obscene rap songs during their fortnight trip.

Joined by her husband Ryan, 38, her five daughters and her elderly parents Leslie and Tim, Michaela said the complex was like a noisy building site.

She added the TUI holiday was also ruined because they found blood on some of their sheets.

Michaela said there were also cockroaches at the Grand Bahia Principe hotel on the Caribbean island.

The family, from Grimsby, complained to staff soon after they arrived on July 9.

Michaela said she was horrified when she and her three of her girls – Georgia, 17, and 14-year-old twins Sophie and Em – were offered drugs at the hotel

The outraged mum said: “They would just say ‘Want some good stuff?’ to me and the girls.

“If we were together, they’d say it to us but if they were alone, they’d say it to my daughters.”

The mum had booked the expensive holiday to celebrate after her and Ryan got married last November.

Michaela said: “It’s the last time going on holiday with my older daughter as she’s nearly 18.

“And it’s the first time we’ve gone on holiday as a family since my husband and I got married.

“So since it was a bit of a special holiday so we thought we’d go somewhere nice and a bit further away.

“I booked the five-star platinum because I thought it was the best that you could get and it would be an absolute luxury. But obviously, it wasn’t.”

The mum had booked the holiday thinking it was a five-star resort, but when she arrived, she says she noticed that the rating had changed online.

She said: “They’ve now changed the star rating but they didn’t let us know ahead of time.

“Obviously we thought we were going to a five-star hotel but actually it was a four-star hotel which was more like a three-star hotel anyway.”

Michaela took photos and videos of the loud construction taking place near the pool – meaning the family couldn’t relax.

She also took photos of the children’s pool which was out of use.

It left her youngest kids Isabella, two, and Madison, nine months, devastated.

She said: “The little children’s area was one of the reasons that we booked it.

“It had a little water park which I thought was ideal but when we got there, there was caution tape all over it, it looked like a crime scene.

“They did fix it after the first week but only after I complained, and it only took them a couple of hours.

“But the caution tape had obviously been there a while because it was all faded.

“So we went around the main pool but it was so noisy. I’ve had building work at home for the last year so I wasn’t going to listen to that.

“Then, further around the pool, they were playing drinking games, people were having twerking competitions and playing obscene songs.

“It was more like a club 18 to 30.”

A TUI spokesman said: “We are very sorry to hear of the Travis party’s experience in Jamaica.

“We would like to thank the customers for bringing their concerns to our attention and we will certainly be looking into this with our team in resort.

“Unfortunately, we were not made aware of the building work soon enough to notify customers before they travelled.

“However, we understand this must have been a disappointing experience and we are in touch with the customer to apologise and offer a gesture of goodwill.”

A British tourist was left horrified after finding a “live maggot” in his hotel meal.

Luke Whatley was on holiday in Bulgari with his girlfriend when he spotted the maggot in his burger – after taking a bite.

Sun Online Travel has contacted the Grand Bahia Principe hotel for comment.
