Outlander season 5 spoilers: Brianna Fraser to leave America in major SISTER reveal?

Viewers will remember one of the biggest tragedies to hit Claire (played by Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan) was the loss of their baby daughter Faith on Outlander, who was stillborn in season two of the STARZ time-travelling drama.

In the aftermath of the loss, the couple were heartbroken as they buried the infant in France before heading back to Scotland to prepare for the Battle of Culloden.

While Faith hasn’t been mentioned since Claire and Jamie were reunited in season three of the hit historical series, a new theory could hint the couple will finally tell their daughter, and now new-mother, about the beautiful faith.

And if this is the case, could Brianna (Sophie Skelton) decide to leave her home in Frasers Ridge to visit her dead sister’s grave in Europe?

One fan speculated over whether Brianna has ever been told about Faith in either the series or author Diana Gabaldon’s novels, and the potential plot hole could be revisited with heartbreaking scenes in the next season, or even in the sixth instalment.

It wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to imagine the loss and knowledge of her sister will resonate with Brianna even more now she has given birth to her own child, and could even bring her and her mother closer together.

Reddit user MyPeopleAreNordic posted: “I remember thinking this on my last read and wanted to start a conversation about it… do we know if Brianna knows about Faith?

“I mean, there are the things Claire told Bree in Voyager about Jamie and Claire’s past and conversations that Bree had with Jamie in Drum where she knows things that she may have learned ‘off screen’ and even when she meets William later knowing who he is…

“I cannot recall her every being told or having her own thoughts about Faith. Like mentioned above I am on my 4th read of Drums and have been skipping some parts so I may have missed it.

“But I was just curious if I was right and if anyone else noticed?”

Fan CCORRIGEN replied to the post with claims it has never been mentioned, so there are sure to be conversations ahead for the Fraser family.

“I have all eight books in one e-book,” the user shared. “I searched the word ‘Faith’ and Claire thinks of Faith while speaking to Bree (when Bree was wondering if her baby were Roger’s or Stephen’s).

“But I did not find anywhere that indicates where she spoke to her about their first baby.”

Conversely, Shalonne indicated there was a moment which saw Brianna learning about Faith’s existence.

“I’ve read the books a few times, and I want to say there was a mention of Brianna having been told about Faith,” the fan said. “But not much more than that.

“I can’t back it up with exact book / chapter, etc. I just think I remember seeing it.”

Season five will also see how the family manages to come together following the unforgivable events of season four – which saw Scottish Highlander Jamie pummel Roger’s (Richard Rankin) face to a pulp and send him off to get sold to the Mohawk clan, all because he thought Brianna’s new husband was actually rapist Stephen Bonnet (Ed Speleers).

Can Jamie and Roger ever get on now they’re family? And will the latter ever forgive the red-head for his rash actions?

Outlander season five will return to STARZ and Amazon Prime Video later this year.
