& Other Stories' autumn collection just dropped and these are the pieces you should buy for your capsule wardrobe

Granted, there’s something a tad bemusing about squealing over cardigans and winter boots just seconds after we’ve sobbed into our cuppas over the sudden disappearance of summer. It’s confusing. In the same breath as wondering whether summer 2k20 even happened – and why we just placed an order of three more summer dresses??? – we’re buzzing with excitement for autumn and winter.

We suppose we’re excused – it’s our job to get clued-up on the pieces we’ll be wearing in a month or two’s time, after all. And after half a year spent kicking back in tracksuits and cycling shorts, the dawn of a fresh new season brings a stronger sartorial craving for structured, fashion-forward cold-weather heroes than ever before. If autumn is going to come around so quickly, we may as well embrace it.

Luckily, the launch of the & Other Stories Fall Shop is grounds and a half to quit feeling guilty about your cold-weather enthusiasm. Yep: they’ve come up trumps this September – as anyone with a firm eye on the site’s new-in section will know – dropping their first AW20 pieces with confidence, heatwave incoming (?!) or not. And every single one of them is killer.

All of the staples you’d expect to find in any good autumn capsule wardrobe are making an appearance: the Chelsea boots, the structured leather blazers, the tailored trousers and the chunky knits. But there are also a few new pieces which will give our autumn wardrobes the fresh lick of paint it has been craving. Case in point: the abundance of collared cardigans. There’s a lilac-coloured wool-blend cardigan which will inject a welcome pop of colour into an otherwise monochrome get-up, and a black merino wool cardigan with a cute AF collar. Another style to make a beeline for? & Other Stories are championing the shacket like never before, with monochrome knitted numbers and minimalist cream-hued overcoats getting our hearts racing. This double-breasted quilted jacket will make your look laidback and polished with next-to-no effort. And don’t even get us started on this dreamy, creamy, padded, high-collared bomber.
