Optimism Health Group has acquired Cambuslang-based eye care provider Visioncall.
Founded in 2001, Visioncall operates across the UK, delivering eye care services to around 100,000 residents in more than 5,000 care homes.
As part of Optimism’s growing portfolio, it will continue to do so, with the UK healthcare investment group providing technology and clinical support services.
In November 2020, Optimism acquired eye and hearing care business OutsideClinic, then in July, OutsideClinic announced its plans to recruit 50 additional optometrists and 20 audiologists to respond to demand from patients requiring sight tests and hearing tests in their own houses.
Optimism plans to acquire further complementary businesses in the eye care and the hearing sector, as well as businesses providing other clinical services to the fast-growing older demographic.
Henry Pitman, chairman of Optimism, commented: “Visioncall’s eye care service in care homes is complementary to OutsideClinic’s eye care in people’s own homes – the acquisition of consolidates Optimism’s position as the UK’s leading domiciliary eye and hearing care provider.”
Michelle Le Prevost, managing director of Visioncall, said: “We believe that this acquisition marks an exciting new chapter in our journey to help our patients see better and live better.
“As care homes re-open, the business is seeing accelerating demand for eye and hearing tests – Optimism’s investment will allow us to continue expanding our business, recruiting a further 20 optometrists over the next two years.”
