One of these £13 French pharmacy face creams sells every 23 seconds

When it comes to skincare, French pharmacies are a veritable treasure trove of beauty-boosting wonders. From richly nourishing face creams to multi-purpose body oils, there no doubt that our Gallic neighbours are masters of simple, fuss-free products that get the job done.

Now, we’ve got wise to another cult classic, the Embryolisse Lait Crème Concentre, which flies off the shelves at a staggering rate of one product every 23 seconds.

Created by dermatologists in Paris over 60 years ago, the silky face and body moisturiser has been the secret preserve of makeup artists for decades thanks to its natural, skin-replenishing ingredients.

Until recently though, the product was only available to buy in France – not so handy unless you had a Parisian escape booked on the Eurostar. Luckily, the cream is now more widely available online, meaning you can pick one up from the likes of Boots or Cult Beauty for just £13.

Dubbed the “24-hour miracle cream”, the creamy lightweight lotion acts as a primer, moisturiser, make-up remover, repairing mask, an after-shave cream, and a baby-care product.

If that wasn’t impressive enough, the cream is also enriched with a combination of natural ingredients, including essential fatty acids and vitamins, which help balance the skin, protect it from aggressors, and nourish it back to a supple and healthy state.

Judging by the five-star reviews left on Cult Beauty, the cream is definitely worth the hype.

“Hard working multitasker, I’m on my sixth or seventh Embryolisse tube and my daughters use it too. It’s good for all ages, all skin types (on an adolescent skin I would say a little goes a long way) all occasions,” one happy customer wrote.

Another reviewer praised the cream’s soothing effect on dry, irritate skin, noting: “Makes your skin so soft. My skin is drier than the Saharan desert, yet this instantly smooths out my dry patches.”

Little wonder that the cream is a skincare favourite of the likes of Elle MacPherson, Scarlett Johansson and Gwyneth Paltrow, while Chanel’s late creative director Karl Lagerfeld reportedly bathed in an entire bottle of the Parisian product a day.

Now that’s what we call decadence.
