Good news, people. One Direction fans can now sleep easy knowing that all five of the boys’ waxworks have now been reunited and reinstated.

2020 marked 10 years of One Direction and while we all thoroughly enjoyed taking a trip down memory lane back in July to celebrate the boyband’s phenomenal success, celebrations were cut a little short when Madame Tussauds decided to retire its 1D waxworks.

Yup, the five-piece band – made up of Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik and Niall Horan – were taken off display and when Directioners got wind of it, well as you can imagine. they weren’t happy.

There was an outcry from fans to have the waxwork figures, that were first introduced in 2013, reinstated, with even Niall himself saying that he would ‘knock on the door’ of the attraction to ensure the return of One Direction’s wax doubles.

The furore sparked a petition boasting 35,000 signatures, emails, hand-written letters and even video please being sent in, with the efforts of 1D fans worldwide finally being triumphantly recognised.

Madame Tussauds London has declared that all five figures making up the band will make their return from today.

General manager Tim Waters said of the move: ‘Despite One Direction continuing to pursue successful solo careers, Directioners have told us loud and clear that they’re not ready for a world where they can’t still meet Harry, Zayn, Niall, Louis and Liam together as a band.’

Oh, and of course, he couldn’t resist reaching out to Niall and telling him that he’s welcome to stop by any time.

The return of the waxworks comes after fans celebrated One Direction’s 10th anniversary in July. Yup, it’s really been a decade since the boys were thrown together on The X Factor in 2010 to make a band after initially auditioning as solo artists.

One Direction made it all the way to the final and finished in third place on the show, behind runner-up Rebecca Ferguson and winner Matt Cardle – but they had the last laugh, as they went on to become probably the biggest boyband of all time.

10 years on and the boys have sold a huge 70million records worldwide and all five members are now pursuing their own solo careers, following One Direction’s hiatus in 2016 – a year after Zayn quit the band.

They were seen marking a decade in the music biz, with Niall reaching out to his bandmates as he wrote on Instagram: ‘when I met these four gents there was no way I thought we would go on to do what we did. So many unbelievable memories we shared together. We felt the adoration of millions from around the planet on a daily basis and it was mind blowing.

‘It’s such a major part of our lives and always will be. Cheers to US today boys and thank you to all you beautiful people who have supported us over the last 10 years. @liampayne @harrystyles @zayn @louist91 ❤️ #10yearsofonedirection.’

Louis, meanwhile, marked the moment by getting emotional over the band’s old performances and interviews.

‘Too many incredible memories to mention but not a day goes by that I don’t think about how amazing it was. @NiallOfficial @Harry_Styles @LiamPayne @zaynmalik. So proud of you all individually,’ he said.

Sadly there was no One Direction reunion that we all had our hearts set on, but here’s hoping that Greatest Hits album drops real soon…
