Olly Murs revealed he wants to ‘make a change’ with his estranged twin brother, after breaking down in tears over his family situation.

The Dance With Me Tonight singer teared up when seeing twins
Katie and Aofie compete in the blind auditions on the Voice UK, earlier this
year.

Recalling his fractured relationship with brother Ben Hart,
he struggled to hold back his emotions.

And, speaking about the scenes, the 35-year-old explained he
was ‘shocked’ by his reaction.

Chatting to Metro.co.uk and others ahead of the semi-finals, he told us: ‘When the twins came out, I was completely caught off guard with that moment. Maybe it was because of my mindset at the time, I was obviously not feeling great in myself.

‘I don’t know what happened. I very rarely show emotion like that, especially on TV. I’d rather do that at home and behind closed doors, but I was there at the time, I was with Tom and the guys, and the moment came and they were great.

‘That’s what I love about the show, the friendship between
the guys to come and give me the hug when I needed it… I just didn’t expect
to feel that emotion, but that’s the show.’

Olly also confessed he was wary of checking social media after
the scenes aired, because Twitter can often be toxic.

But thankfully, he was pleasantly surprised by the response.

‘To be honest with you, I didn’t want to look, because I know what kind of place that is,’ he continued.

‘But actually, the support was overwhelming, if I’m honest,
I was actually blown away by it, I didn’t expect that to have the impact it
did.

‘And also, a lot of people were reaching out to me that had
relatives that they don’t speak to anymore, brothers or sisters or family
members. They said, “I’m in the same position and seeing you tonight as
made me realise I need to make a change”.

‘I still want to make that change with my brother, but it
was nice.’

Olly and Ben have not spoken for 10 years, with his sibling taking his wife’s surname to distance himself from the family.

According to reports, the feud was sparked when the singer
decided to compete in the X Factor semi-finals, instead of attending his
wedding day.

Ben has rarely discussed the rift between the pair, which began way back in 2009, publicly.

But, in an interview he gave in 2017, he claimed ‘fame and
greed’ changed everything and came between their previously tight-knit family.

The Voice continues on Saturday, at 8.30pm, on ITV.
