Olivia Newton-John has called for ‘everyone’ to have access to medical cannabis.

The 70-year-old, who is battling cancer for the third time, addressed the crowd at the annual Wellness Walk and Research Run in Melbourne on Sunday.

She spoke about her treatment for breast cancer, saying she is ‘alive and healthy’, and recalled her treatment.

The actress praised medicinal cannabis for helping her feel ‘fantastic’.

Olivia went on: ‘I hope to be able to soon offer that to everyone – that’s my dream.’

The Grease star recently made a public appearance at the Industry Dance Awards and Cancer Benefit Show where she received a Lifetime Achievement Award.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight at the event, she said: ‘I just want everyone to know, I’m here, I’m doing great. I’m doing really well and I’m really healthy.

‘It was a challenging year because I broke my sacrum and I had to learn to walk again and everything.

‘But I am strong and I am back and I’m feeling good and loving every minute.’

Olivia has fought breast cancer twice already – once in 1992, and again in 2013, which she did not go public with.

The Grammy award winner has spoken about medical marijuana in the past, explaining how it gave her relief following radiation therapy for stage four breast cancer last year for a tumour at the base of her spine.

Speaking to 60 Minutes, she said: ‘I’m so lucky that I’ve been through this three times and I’m still here. I’m living with it.

‘When you’re given a cancer diagnosis or a scary illness diagnosis, you are suddenly given a possibility of a time limit.

‘The truth is, you could get hit by a truck tomorrow, you don’t know so every day is a gift, particularly now.

‘If you believe the statistics, you’re going to make them happen. If somebody tells you, “you have six months to live”, very possibly you will – because you believe that.’
