Grease star Olivia Newton-John says she doesn’t want to find out how much time she has left to live with stage four breast cancer and is focusing on fundraising instead.

The actor, 70, revealed that she is battling cancer for the third time in November last year, and that the chance of a cure is slim as the cancer is now at stage four, which usually means it has spread to another site in the body.

She told 60 Minutes: ‘I’m so lucky that I’ve been through this three times and I’m still here. I’m living with it.

‘When you’re given a cancer diagnosis or a scary illness diagnosis, you are suddenly given a possibility of a time limit.

‘The truth is, you could get hit by a truck tomorrow, you don’t know so every day is a gift, particularly now.

‘If you believe the statistics, you’re going to make them happen. If somebody tells you, “you have six months to live”, very possibly you will – because you believe that.’

Olivia has channeled her energy into fundraising for research into the effects of cannabis as a treatment for cancer as she has been using cannabis grown in her home in California for her symptoms.

The star is also selling some of her memorabilia and possessions, including the iconic ‘bad Sandy’ outfit from Grease in order to raise money for research.

Olivia first overcame cancer in 1992 and was in remission until 2013, when she once again battled the disease in secret.

She revealed last year that the cancer had spread to the base of her spine, and was forced to deny reports that she was near death in January of this year.

She posted a video on Twitter telling fans: ‘Happy New Year everyone, this is Olivia Newton-John and I just want to say that the rumours of my death have been greatly exaggerated, to quote a very famous quote.

‘And I am doing great and want to wish all of you the happiest, healthiest 2019 as possible and thank you all for your wonderful love and support for me and for my Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness Centre in Melbourne, Australia.’
