Mississippi linebacker MoMo Sanogo is expected to be sidelined “roughly 10 weeks” after sustaining an ankle injury against Arkansas on Saturday, coach Matt Luke said on Monday.

Sanogo, who will undergo surgery Tuesday, recorded four tackles in the Rebels’ first two games after collecting 112 last season.

“It is a big loss to us, not only as a player, but emotionally for the kids,” defensive coordinator Mike MacIntyre said Monday during his weekly press conference.

“… Jacquez Jones was ready to go and came out there and played pretty well. We feel like Jacquez won’t be able to completely replace MoMo and all of the things he does, but we definitely think he’s good enough to be an excellent inside ‘backer for us.”

Ole Miss (1-1), which posted a 31-17 win over the Razorbacks, hosts Football Championship Subdivision program Southeastern Louisiana (1-0) on Saturday.
