Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will hold ‘crisis talks’ with Ed Woodward today over the club’s lack of transfer business.

The Red Devils signed Daniel James shortly after the end of last season but have been inactive for over a month now following the arrival of Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace.

United are keen on Leicester defender Harry Maguire, Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes and are tied in negotiations with Juventus over a swap deal involving Paulo Dybala and Romelu Lukaku.

Solskjaer wanted the bulk of his transfer business completed in time for pre-season but there’s just nine days left of the window with plenty left to be done at Old Trafford.

Solskjaer’s squad flew back to Manchester late last night after a 1-0 win against Kristiansund in Oslo and the Sun claim the Norwegian will meet with Woodward on Wednesday to discuss the club’s movements in the market.

Woodward has operated on a ‘one transfer at a time’ policy this summer but he will have to abandon that strategy with such little time remaining in the window.

Maguire, 26, has made it clear to Leicester that he wants to move to Old Trafford but the Foxes are holding out for an astronomical £85m for the England defender.

United have distanced themselves from a move for Fernandes throughout the season but a deal for Sean Longstaff is dead in the water and Solskjaer needs at least one midfielder to arrive following the departures of Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera.

A deal for Dybala has been agreed but it remains to be seen whether the Argentine is keen on a move to Old Trafford.
