Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sent message over Man Utd's No.1 transfer target

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was handed a big blow within 24 hours of getting the Manchester United job.

The Reds may have to go back to the drawing board in their search for a new central defender.

Kalidou Koulibaly now looks like he will not be leaving Napoli after all this summer.

Manager Carlo Ancelotti insists he will not be forced to sell – despite serious interest from Old Trafford and elswhere. Real Madrid are also keen.

Koulibaly is rated highly and Solskjaer is desperate to bring the Senegalese centre-half in as he looks to rebuild his backline.

Ancelotti said: “Napoli will not be forced to sell. Koulibaly will not leave here.”

Koulibaly has been linked with United since last summer

United may have to now turn their attention elsewhere

Inter centre-back Milan Skriniar and Sampdoria defender Joachim Andersen are both reportedly all being monitored by United.

The Kouliably development couldn’t overshadow a big day for the new boss.

“From the first day I arrived, I felt at home at this special club,” Solskjaer told the club’s website.

“It was an honour to be a Manchester United player, and then to start my coaching career here.

But his manager is not keen to let him go

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may miss out on his number one target

“The last few months have been a fantastic experience and I want to thank all of the coaches, players and staff for the work we’ve done so far.

“This is the job that I always dreamed of doing and I’m beyond excited to have the chance to lead the club long term and hopefully deliver the continued success that our amazing fans deserve.”

Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho and Chelsea’s 18-year-old Callum Hudson-Odoi have both been linked with big-money summer moves.
