Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has told Zlatan Ibrahimovic to give him a call if he’s ‘serious’ about returning to the club.

The Swede claimed last week that he could ‘easily’ still play for the club, despite leaving for LA Galaxy in 2018.

The 37-year-old hit 26 goals in his debut season at Old Trafford but he tore his ACL towards the end of an impressive opening campaign and made just seven appearances the following season.

United allowed Alexis Sanchez to join Inter Milan on loan on Thursday, leaving them with a strikeforce of Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood.

The MLS season runs until December at the latest, meaning there’s an opportunity to acquire Ibrahimovic on loan.

And, though Solskjaer has played down his chances of returning, the Norwegian says Ibrahimovic should speak to him if he’s ‘serious’ over a return.

‘If he was 28 not 38 next month, there’a big difference,’ said Solskjaer.

‘Zlatan had a great time here, he’s still doing well, it’s unfortunate he got his injury here

‘Who knows, he knows my number, he looked at my house [to rent]. We can speak a native language, if he’s serious I’ll always speak to Zlatan.’

Solskjaer was later asked how feasible it is that Ibrahimovic could return and he appeared to dampen talk.

‘I don’t think that’ll happen, no. I think he’s had his time at the club, he’s had a fantastic career at the club,’ Solskjaer admitted.

United are looking to get back to winning ways tomorrow against Southampton.

The Red Devils’ unbeaten start was ended by Crystal Palace last Saturday when the Eagles left Old Trafford with a 2-1 win.
