Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has reassured Manchester United’s targets that the club remains the ‘biggest and best in the world’ ahead of the January transfer window.

The Red Devils are reportedly looking to bring in three new recruits this winter as they attempt to chase Chelsea down and secure a top-four finish in the Premier League.

After bolstering United’s defence in the summer, Solskjaer has identified midfield as the area most in need of strengthening, with Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic’s futures in serious doubt.

Leicester star James Maddison has been heavily linked in recent months and Rennes teenager Eduardo Camavinga is another midfielder firmly on United’s radar.

Though United no longer have the pull factor they had during their glory years under Sir Alex Ferguson, Solskjaer insists the club still have huge appeal.

‘Agents might not to but players will do. I don’t speak to too many agents,’ he said ahead of United’s Europa League tie with AZ Alkmaar.

‘United are the biggest and best in the world and I’m sure there’s so many players in the world who want to be part of the rebuild.

‘Our players and fans enjoy our football and opposition players will like to be part of it as well.’

Solskjaer has confirmed that Paul Pogba is yet to return from his ankle injury, but Nemanja Matic looks set to feature on Thursday evening.

Asked whether Pogba will be back playing before the new year, Solskjaer replied: ‘Yeah, I hope so.

‘He is working hard to get fit and hopefully we can get him back on the pitch.

‘Let’s get him fit and back in form. He will play loads of games.

‘He’s one of the best players in the world and we’re looking forward to having him back.’

He added: ‘Diogo [Dalot] is back training fully and Nemanja is back.

‘[Marcos] Rojo is hopefully back next week.

‘Eric [Bailly] and Timothy [Fosu-Mensah] are training with the team from next week onwards.’
