Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would prefer Manchester United to sign Erling Haaland ahead of Jadon Sancho, according to reports.
Sancho was United’s top target last summer but Borussia Dortmund stood firm over their £108 million valuation of the England international.
United refused to meet Dortmund’s asking price and Sancho ended up remaining with the Bundesliga club.
According to the Sunday Mirror, United’s hierarchy are now having second thoughts about making a fresh move for Sancho at the end of the season.
The report claims that United still believe Dortmund’s valuation of Sancho is too high and are debating whether the 20-year-old is needed.
It’s also claimed that Solskjaer’s preference would be to bring Haaland to Old Trafford ahead of Sancho.
Solskjaer was keen on signing the striker from Red Bull Salzburg a year ago before he opted to join Dortmund instead.
The 20-year-old, who was managed by Soskjaer at Molde, has hit the ground running since joining Dortmund with 33 goals in 32 appearances.
Sancho, meanwhile, has struggled for form this season with just three assists and no goals in 11 Bundesliga appearances.
Elsewhere, United are also poised to welcome the arrival of Amad Traore from Atalanta.
The 18-year-old, who has been signed in a £37 million deal, is expected to begin training with United’s first-team squad this month.
‘Amad, we’ve had all the paperwork, I can’t see any obstacles,’ Solskjaer said this week.
‘Hope very soon he will be with us. Very excited to have him in. He’ll need time to develop.
‘Apart from that I’m not thinking too much about January.’
