Paul Pogba is worried that his dream move to Real Madrid will not happen, with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer already preparing to have face-to-face talks with the midfielder.

Manchester United’s club-record signing admitted he was ready for a ‘new challenge’ over the weekend, with both Real Madrid and Juventus poised to battle for his signature this summer.

However, The Telegraph report that United’s valuation of Pogba – which stands at an astonishing £160million – has virtually ended any hopes of a transfer before they really began.

Any deal has been complicated by the fight that United will want a replacement in place before Pogba is allowed to go, but the transfer window closes three-and-a-half weeks earlier in England than in Spain or Italy.

United are also unconvinced by the players both Juve and Real would be prepared to offer in exchange, but a cash-only deal would likely be beyond the means of both teams.

Furthermore, according to The Telegraph’s report, United do not anticipate Pogba kicking up a fuss if he is prevented from leaving Old Trafford this summer.

United bosses are fully aware that this season is a pivotal one for Pogba ahead of Euro 2020 next summer, while his commitment and application did not waiver when he was denied a move to Barcelona last summer.

Nevertheless, Solskjaer intends to speak to Pogba in face-to-face talks when he returns for pre-season training on July 1.

He did similarly when Pogba said it would be a ‘dream’ to play for Real back in March and was given assurances that he was focused on playing and performing for United, and Solskjaer does not anticipate the Frenchman becoming a problem.
