Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reportedly in a ‘hurry’ to sign Aaron Wan-Bissaka as he doubts Crystal Palace will sell both him and Wilfried Zaha this summer.

Palace have reportedly rejected Manchester United’s opening £40million bid for Wan-Bissaka and Solskjaer’s side are already preparing an improved offer for the 21-year-old right-back.

The Norwegian has his heart set on landing Wan-Bissaka and has urged the club to move closer to Palace’s £60m valuation for the promising youngster.

According to The Sun, United believe Palace’s asking price is excessive, but Solskjaer is adamant that the England Under-21 international must be a part of his defence next season.

However, it’s understood the Red Devils’ next offer for Wan-Bissaka is likely to be around the £50m mark.

The report claims that Solskjaer is desperately pleading with United to get a deal over the line for Wan-Bissaka before Palace begin listening to offers for their other prized possession, Zaha, instead. He feels the Eagles will block Wan-Bissaka’s exit if Zaha secures a move away from Selhurst Park.

Solskjaer is convinced by Wan-Bissaka’s enormous potential and, while Thomas Meunier remains on United’s radar, he sees the young Englishman as Antonio Valencia’s true heir at Old Trafford.

Wan-Bissaka, who recently signed a new long-term contract keeping him at Palace until 2022, is not prepared to force his way out of the club this summer.

Asked about his future at the end of Palace’s campaign, Wan-Bissaka explained: ‘I am with Crystal Palace at the moment.

‘That is where my contract is and that is where I will be next season.

‘I have got three years left on my contract. It says I am going to be there, so that is all I can focus on now.’

Solskjaer is only interested in signing players with the right ‘work ethic’ and desire to play for United this summer.

‘We’ve tried to educate our players and our kids to be proper people. In my view, the best players have always been the best people,’ he told United’s official app.

‘You have to have that value system and a certain kind of attitude about you to make a Man United player.

‘You have got to have the qualities and our fans want to see exciting players. Of course we want to get up from our seats.

‘We want to see defenders who defend like they’re doing it for their lives – that’s the most important thing.

‘When we start games [against big clubs], our fans clap a striker making a tackle. It’s always been in our culture.

‘You have to have that work ethic and we’re scouting the market, trying to find the right ones.’
