The third season of the VR League, a joint production between virtual reality headset maker Oculus and tournament organizer ESL , began play this past weekend with a $250K prize pool for the entire season.
VR League Season 3 features six weeks of online cups for all four featured games, with closed qualifiers happening in late May. The two best teams each from North America and Europe for each game will then face off at the finals at the Haymarket Theatre in Leicester, England, on June 8-9.
Two of last season’s VR games are back: Ready at Dawn’s Echo Arena, a zero-gravity disc-based team sport, and Downpour Interactive’s tactical shooter, Onward. They are joined by a pair of new shooters: Ubisoft’s Space Junkies, and Ready at Dawn’s Echo Arena spinoff, Echo Combat. Competitors use the PC-powered Oculus Rift headset to play.
