‘It’s a hold your breath situation’: Home and Away star Sharni Vinson reveals her farm is ‘severely under threat’ from raging bushfires just two kilometres away – leaving her 100 animals at risk
Heartbroken Home and Away star Sharni Vinson has revealed her family’s New South Wales farm is ‘severely under threat’ from raging bushfires.
The 36-year-old actress confirmed that her 100 animals are at risk if the Currowan fire in Shoalhaven reaches her 300-acre Burrill Lake property.
Her home is currently just two kilometers from the flames.

She told The Daily Telegraph: ‘At the moment, it’s a hold your breath situation. The property is severely under threat right now.
‘It’s a piece of South Coast paradise. The fire’s just creeping over the hill… on the map right now there only looks to be one house between us and the fire, so it’s very close.’
The property was built by Sharni’s grandfather when she was six years old, and has housed her family for more than three decades.

It’s also home to dozens of chickens, horses, cattle and two bulls.
‘We’re at the point where we have to cut the fences to let the cattle go down [to] the lake and run, you don’t want to see anyone get hurt,’ she said.
Sharni, who played Cassie Turner on Home and Away between 2004 and 2008, added that she only sleeps ‘a few hours a night’ because she is constantly checking NSW’s rural fires websites to monitor the situation.

At least 10 people have died because of the bushfires in Australia this year, with the blaze destroying as many as 1,000 properties in NSW.
Sharni, who grew up in Cronulla, is currently staying on the Sunshine Coast with her mother and two dogs, Mocha and Jagger, while the rest of her family are in Sydney.
She will be heading back to Los Angeles after New Year’s Day.
