NRL star Tom Burgess marries model Tahlia Giumelli in an outdoor ceremony in Sydney 


Model Tahlia Giumelli and NRL star Tom Burgess are officially married. 

The couple, both 29, tied the knot in a stunning star-studded ceremony in a waterfront park in Sydney‘s Watsons Bay on Friday. 

The sporadic rain couldn’t dampen their spirits, with the blushing bride and her smitten groom absolutely beaming throughout the ceremony.

Tahlia opted for a fuss-free but glamorous look for her big day, looking gorgeous in a slinky white wedding dress. 

Her frock was sleeveless, backless and featured a cowl-neck design with a small train.

Tahlia, who showed off a golden glow on the day, wore her brunette locks up and off her face in an elegant bun.

She completed her look with natural-looking makeup, including lashings of mascara and a deep pink lip.

Tahlia carried a gorgeous bouquet made up of white orchids and roses and wore a long white veil.

The pair looked nothing but thrilled and in love as they said ‘I do’ and shared their first kiss as newlyweds.

The couple announced their engagement on New Year’s Eve in 2019, after three years of dating.

Sources close to the pair revealed the service would finally go ahead and that all the Burgess brothers – including SAS Australia winner Sam – would have roles to play in the proceedings.

It’s understood lifelong Souths fan and close family friend Russell Crowe also RSVP’d to the event along with a large Souths contingent both past and present. 

However he appeared to be a no-show on the day, and was not seen in photos from the ceremony.  

The confirmation followed several major setbacks for the young parents.

Tom and Tahlia first announced their postponement of their original wedding plans back in July following two years of intricate planning. 

Earlier this month, Tahlia made some wedding place cards for guests with the help of a friend.

‘Instead we turned it into a family holiday, made some more memories and soaking up the pre-wedding bliss that is still to come.’ 

In July, Tom and Tahlia announced they’d had to postpone their wedding.

At the time, she wrote on Instagram: ‘After almost two years of planning. Tom and I had to make the sad decision to postpone and move our wedding venue completely.

‘With another wave of Covid hitting NSW our priority is and always will be the safety of our family and friends.

‘I have no doubt when it happens it will be just as amazing. Really feel for all the brides who have had to do the same. But right now a I wedding didn’t seem like a number one priority’.

The couple already have two children together, daughters Sophie, two, and Elodie, one.

In November 2020, they welcomed Elodie early at just 36 weeks, announcing the birth on Instagram.  

The new mum wrote: ‘Our little girl. She decided to surprise us and greet us early at 36 weeks. Born at a healthy 3.5kgs (big for a premmie).’ 

‘Our surprise bundle of joy is yet to be named but we are so in love with her and can’t wait for Sophie to meet her little sister. So yes Rupert was a Rupertina after all’.

Tom also made the announcement on his Instagram, writing: ‘Will never get over the miracle of childbirth, we welcomed our second little princess. 

‘A bit of a surprise but baby and mum are all great! She’s weighing a very healthy 3.525kg, 7lbs12!

‘Tahlia was a such a legend, we can’t wait to take our little girl home and introduce her to her big sister.
