Norway vs England preview: Key players, previous meetings, odds, TV details and more

England and Norwaywill face off for a place in the semi-finals of the Women’s World Cup, having met in the round of 16 at Canada 2015.

The Lionesses came through battered and bruised, although smiling, from the pandemonium of their 3-0 victory over Cameroon while Norway needed penalties to dispatch Australia after a 1-1 draw.

However, England’s scoreline flattered them, as they gifted Cameroon opportunity after opportunity to get a foothold in the game.

Norway are without the world’s best female player, Ada Hegerberg, as she continues to abstain from international duty due to over inequality between the men’s and women’s sides. She has labelled the disparity between the two as “enormous.”

England will be hoping their walking wounded captain Steph Houghton, a survivor from the 2-1 round of 16 victory over Norway four years ago, will be fit enough to bring her experience and quality to the affair.

What time does it start?

Norway vs England kicks off at 8.00 pm BST on Thursday 27 June.

Where can I watch it?

The match will be shown live on BBC One from 7.30 pm. Highlights will be shown on the BBC Sport website.

It’s a big game for…

Isabell Herlovsen: German-born Herlovsen is Norway’s top scorer so far after netting in the victory over Australia in the last round. The absence of Hegerberg has meant that Herlovsen has had to deal with the expectation to deliver in her place.

Best stat…

England have only lost twice to Norway across seven matches in their history.

Player to watch…

Ellen White: Manchester City forward White has been in excellent form so far, scoring four goals at a rate of one every hour for the Lionesses. Her double against Japan showed her clinical edge, dragging a sluggish England side over the line which was followed by a fine finish amid the madness of the Cameroon game.
