England and Norwaywill face off for a place in the semi-finals of the Women’s World Cup, having met in the round of 16 at Canada 2015.
The Lionesses came through battered and bruised, although smiling, from the pandemonium of their 3-0 victory over Cameroon while Norway needed penalties to dispatch Australia after a 1-1 draw.
However, England’s scoreline flattered them, as they gifted Cameroon opportunity after opportunity to get a foothold in the game.
Norway are without the world’s best female player, Ada Hegerberg, as she continues to abstain from international duty due to over inequality between the men’s and women’s sides. She has labelled the disparity between the two as “enormous.”
England will be hoping their walking wounded captain Steph Houghton, a survivor from the 2-1 round of 16 victory over Norway four years ago, will be fit enough to bring her experience and quality to the affair.
