Normal People’s Paul Mescal thrusts his hips in boozy new Rolling Stones video

NORMAL People’s Paul Mescal smokes, drinks and thrusts his hips in a rock ‘n’ roll video for the Rolling Stones’ track Scarlet.

The Irish heartthrob, 24, lets loose inside London’s five-star Claridge’s hotel as he laments upsetting a woman called Scarlet.

Holed up in a luxury suite, a bleary-eyed Paul sets up a recording and says: “Hey Scarlet, I’m a little bit drunk. I’m very sorry. I love you. So I’m just going to play this song.”

He teases off his black bow tie and unbuttons his shirt as he dances around the room.

In the bathroom he puffs on a cigarette and sips straight whisky as his mood swings from a euphoric high to a teary low.

After a heart to heart with a lipstick drawing of Scarlet on a mirror, he heads down to the hotel’s deserted atrium and dining room where he dances wildly before crashing out on the floor.

The Stones wrote Scarlet in 1974 with Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page.

Insiders told The Sun last week that frontman Mick Jagger and co are thrilled to have the Emmy-nominated Irishman involved and hope he’ll bring a fresh twist to their image.

A source said: “It’s a massive collaboration and a great coup to get Paul on board.

“He’s one of the biggest stars in the world right now, but obviously he was keen to work with some music legends too.

“Universal managed to pull off the partnership at just the right time, and everyone involved is seriously excited.

“Paul plays a hunky party boy in the film, and no doubt there will be a whole new set of fans of his who will want to check it out too, as well as the band’s fanbase.”

Normal People saw Paul playing on-off lover to Daisy Edgar Jones’ feisty Marianne Sheridan in the sexy show.

The 12-part series became a big hit around the world and won huge critical acclaim from A-list stars including Hugh Jackman, alongside a raft of awards nominations.

Paul recently picked up his latest nod, for Outstanding Leading Actor In A Series Or Movie — one of four US Emmy Awards the drama is up for.

And it is anticipated he will follow that with a string of further accolades.
