Noel Gallagher compares American audiences to performing in front of ‘unimpressed sheep’

Noel Gallagher has apparently had some awkward encounters with American audiences, comparing his fans stateside to ‘unimpressed sheep’.

The Wonderwall hitmaker has performed in the US as far back as 1994 when Oasis were together, and the band notably brought their first tour, Be Here Now, to the states in 1997.

These days, Noel performs with his High Flying Birds outfit but it seems he’s had some experiences he’d rather forget.

In an interview with the Times, Noel recalled Oasis’ time spent at the residential Rockfield Studios where they recorded their second album (What’s The Story) Morning Glory.

‘[I was] probably coked up. I remember looking out at this row of sheep,’ he told the publication in his ever honest manner.

‘They were staring blankly at me while I was singing and they didn’t look very impressed.’

He then quipped: ‘It certainly prepared me for audiences in America.’

Noel has memories of Rockfield Studios other than the sheep, as he recalled one particular memory of a bust-up with his estranged brother Liam Gallagher.

‘I was in that studio to work, not to f about,’ Noel revealed.

‘Drinking can wait. You’re trying to follow up Definitely Maybe, you’ve just written Champagne Supernova and Wonderwall, and you can feel it, you know it’s your time, this is important.’

According to Noel, his former Oasis bandmate brought back several friends – or ‘f***ing idiots’ as Noel called them – from the pub.

The rocker revealed: ‘They’re wandering around, fiddling with guitars and listening to songs nobody had heard yet. I said to Liam, “Get these idiots out of here”.

‘Of course he wouldn’t, so chaos ensued.’

Earlier this year, Liam accused Noel of turning down £100 million for an Oasis reunion tour but Noel immediately denied the claims.

Setting the record straight, Noel tweeted: ‘To whoever might be arsed: I am not aware of any offer from anybody for any amount of money to reform the legendary Mancunian Rock’n’Roll group Oasis. I am fully aware though that someone has a single to promote so that’s maybe where the confusion lies.’
