We finally have an official title for the 25th James Bond movie! And it is… (drum roll) No Time To Die. Sounds suitably ominous to us.
The title was revealed via a snazzy teaser video, which sees Daniel Craig’s tuxedo-kitted secret agent stride purposefully onto the screen and give a cheeky look at the camera, before fading to black as the new moniker appears.
The announcement vid came with an official synopsis for the film, too. After the events of Spectre, it seems Craig’s Bond has left active service and is enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica. His peace is short-lived when his old friend Felix Leiter (Jeffrey Wright) from the CIA turns up asking for help. The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology.
We know that the “mysterious villain” will be played by Oscar-winning Bohemian Rhapsody star Rami Malek, while Bond regulars Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw and Naomie Harris return as M, Q and Moneypenny respectively. Wright is making his first Bond appearance since Quantum Of Solace, while Léa Seydoux reprises her Spectre role as Madeleine Swann. Cast newbies include Lashana Lynch (Captain Marvel), Ana de Armas (Knock Knock) and Billy Magnussen (Aladdin).
Directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga, the newly-titled film is currently in production and is taking in locations including Jamaica, Italy and Norway – as well 007’s spiritual home, Pinewood Studios – on its journey to the big screen. It’s Craig’s fifth and likely final outing as James Bond, so he’ll be hoping to make it a good ‘un. Can it best Skyfall as the current Bond box-office champion? We’ll find out when the film is released in UK cinemas on 3 April 2020.
