No, Janelle Monae isn’t replacing Cardi B at Bonnaroo

It was just a rumor.

“I heard Janelle Monae soundchecking this morning, and I asked a staff member about it and she confirmed Janelle was replacing Cardi,” a Reddit user posted on the r/bonnaroo thread, prompting spiking Google searches and some tweets about Cardi B’s scheduled Sunday show.

In May, the rap star announced multiple cancellations due to recovery from plastic surgery.

While the cosmetic setback affected her shows last month, her Bonnaroo appearance is still on schedule.

Festival spokesperson Ken Weinstein confirmed that Cardi is still set to perform on Sunday. “Reddit is inaccurate,” he said.

On Wednesday, Cardi B tweeted that due to the recovery issues, she was done with plastic surgery.

“I been working out for the past 2 weeks cause (expletive) I ain’t getting surgery again,” she wrote in a tweet on Wednesday, adding, “But let me tell you I haven’t got a headache ever since.”

Her plastic surgery tweet comes a week after she criticized people for saying that she canceled shows because they weren’t sold out. “All of the shows I canceled were sold out they even put it on the news on the El Paso news,” she tweeted. “I even show ya how swollen my feet got when I get off a plane so imagine how my stomach and my back get and the pain I feel due to surgery.”
