US rapper Nipsey Hussle has died at the age of 33 after being shot in Los Angeles on Sunday.
The rapper, real name Ermias Davidson Asghedom, was reportedly shot multiple times outside his clothing store, Marathon Clothing, in south Los Angeles yesterday afternoon at around 3:20pm.
Nipsey was among three men who were shot and taken to hospital where one was declared dead – the others remain in a stable condition, police have revealed.
The gunman has not been identified after they fled the scene.
Confirming the tragic news, Los Angeles mayor Eric Garcetti tweeted: ‘Our hearts are with the loved ones of Nipsey Hussle.’
The Los Angeles Police Department said: ‘We have no suspect info at this time and will provide more details as they become available.’
Hours before his death, Nipsey tweeted: ‘Having strong enemies is a blessing.’
Nipsey was well respected in the rap community and released 10 mixtapes before his debut album, Victory Lap, in February 2018.
The album earned Nipsey a best rap album nod at the Grammys 2019 but he lost out to Cardi B’s Invasion Of Privacy.
Nipsey is survived by two children, Emani and Kross, and was in a longtime relationship with actress Lauren London at the time of his death.
