Nintendo Switch Pro with Red Dead Redemption 2? An unlikely dream for fans

A Nintendo Switch Pro console is reportedly hitting shelves later this year, spurring fans to think of new games that could come to the system.

Recent media reports claim that a cheaper Switch console that will function as a handheld-only device will be released by Nintendo alongside a premium version.

While the cheaper Switch will do away with certain features, the Switch Pro will boast more power, although it won’t be able to match the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X.

There also speculation over whether this new Pro console will offer more storage capacity, something sorely needed in the future.

It should be noted that none of this has been confirmed by Nintendo and must be taken with a pinch of salt.

However, it seems a lot more likely to happen than what a recent retail listing suggested could be on the cards.

A retail listing from Australia advertised Red Dead Redemption 2 being available on PS4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch.

And while fans would love something like this to happen, we probably all know that it isn’t possible.

There are some holding out hopes that this could be a game released on the more powerful Nintendo Switch Pro.

But without a clear answer on whether the Pro will even be level with the base PS4 and Xbox One models, it’s hard to see this as an option.

Not to mention that the storage required would present its own small nightmare for Nintendo and Rockstar Games.

The only other way something like this could be made possible on the Nintendo Switch is via the company’s streaming deals in Japan.

Some high-profile titles – such as Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Resident Evil 7 – can be played via streaming services in the region.

However, even if this was announced, it would only be available in Japan, meaning fans in the UK would miss out.

So unless Nintendo makes some big announcements regarding their expanded tech plans in the future, we’re probably not going to get any Rootin Tootin Cowboy Shootin on the Switch anytime soon.

Meanwhile, the Nintendo Switch Pro could be announced during E3 2019 and released during the Summer.

It would no doubt help to boost sales of the console and seal its place as the top-selling console of 2019.

Nintendo’s handheld consoles have historically been their biggest sellers.

The Nintendo DS, Game Boy, Game Boy Advance and 3DS have all outsold the SNES, NES, N64, GameCube and Wii U.

The only Nintendo console that has come close is the Wii, which sold 101.63million units during its lifetime.

The Wii is the fifth best selling console of all time, but was still outsold by the Game Boy and Nintendo DS.
