Nintendo Switch Lite has new coral pink colour console

There is going to be new Nintendo hardware released this year after all… but only a new colour of Switch Lite, and possibly only in Japan.

We’ve now gone longer without a proper Nintendo Direct, that isn’t just focused on one game, than at any time since the Switch launched and it’s becoming harder and harder to understand why.

Nintendo still haven’t announced any major games for this year, beyond Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and yet they’ve made it clear that they’re not going to announce the Switch Pro or any other new hardware.

What all the secrecy is about remains a mystery but at least they’ve announced one new thing this week: a new colour of Switch Lite.

The coral pink Switch Lite will be released in Japan on 20 March and will cost the same amount as the other three existing colours – which is officially £199.99 in the UK.

Pre-orders start on 7 March, in Japan, but so far there’s no indication of whether it will be released in the West.

Ordinarily there’s no reason to think it wouldn’t come out here, but Nintendo has already warned that stock of the Switch may be affected by the coronavirus outbreak.

The initial batch of the coral pink Switch Lite was shipped before the outbreak began, but there may still be stock problems once that sells out.
