Nikki Grahame tributes pour in from Davina McCall and Jedward after tragic death

Big Brother’s Davina McCall, Rylan and Jedward have led the tributes to Big Brother contestant Nikki Grahame who passed away after a battle with Anorexia at the age of 38.

As the heartbreaking news of her passing reached the ears of friends, family and former colleagues, tributes poured in for the reality star and TV personality from around the world.

Nikki, who battled anorexia, passed away on Friday with the sad news confirmed online by her close pal Leon Dee.

Leon told followers: “It is with great sadness, we have to let you know that our dear friend Nikki passed away in the early hours of Friday 9th April.

“It breaks our hearts to know that someone who is so precious was taken from us at such a young age. Nikki not only touched the lives of millions of people, but also her friends and family who will miss her immensely.

“We would like to request privacy at this difficult time, while Nikki’s friends and family process the sad news.”

“Full details will be released as and when we know them.”

The Big Brother star recently checked into a private hospital to treat her eating disorder after her friends managed to raise thousands of pounds for her treatment.

Fans of the iconic reality star donated over £69,000 via a GoFund Me page.

Referring to the page, her friends wrote: “All donations have been greatly appreciated and it was heartwarming for everyone including Nikki to see how much she was loved.

“Funds will be held safely in this GoFundMe until we have established an organisation supporting those suffering from anorexia to which we will make a donation in Nikki’s memory. We will post updates for you with more details as soon as we have them.

Tributes flooded in from those who had worked with Nikki

Nikki appeared on Big Brother’s seventh series and made an impact with her hilarious segments in the Diary Room.

Despite coming fifth on the show she’d made a lasting impression, and soon had her own reality show named Princess Nikki.

In 2010 she appeared in Ultimate Big Brother and in 2015 she was on the 16th series of the show as a guest housemate.

Nikki also starred in the Canadian version of the popular show.

Davina McCall said of Nikki’s death: “I am so desperately sad to hear about Nikki Graham x my thoughts are with her friends and family xx she really was the funniest , most bubbly sweetest girl x”

Rylan, who won Celebrity Big Brother seven and hosted Big Brother’s Bit On The Side, said: “Thinking of Susan and Nikki’s close friends and family. A Big Brother Icon x”

TV star Josie Gibson, who won the eleventh series of Big Brother, said: “Nikki Grahame I can’t believe I’m writing this.

“We love you so much. My heart hurts today. You funny intelligent quirky beautiful soul RIP xxxx”

Jedward too paid tribute to Nikki after meeting her through the world of television.

They wrote: “Rip Nikki Grahame as fellow Big brother contestants we’ve gone through the same experience and having met you on tv shows! our heart goes out to your family and friends.”

They added: ‘Anorexia is a very serious issue and lives are being lost every day. Please check in with your loved ones and get the help and love you deserve. Respect and strength to all effected.”

X Factor star Joe McElderry, who worked on some TV project with Nikki, wrote: “Really sad to hear the passing of @NikkiGrahame grateful to have spent many fun times together my thoughts are with her family. Rest in Peace lovely girl.”

Paddy McGuinness was also shocked, as he wrote: “Bloody hell, just read the sad news about Nikki Grahame. Definitely one of the stars from the glory years of reality tv. I met her a long time ago and she was a lovely girl. RIP young lady.”

Coronation Street’s Daniel Brocklebank remembered his friend, writing: “I’m deeply saddened to hear that Nikki Grahame has passed.”We hung out a few times. The last time on stage together at Manchester Pride.”

“A sweet, kind & fun lady. My love & thoughts go out to all who knew & loved her.”

And RuPaul contestant Cheryl Hole said of Nikki: “I had the absolute pleasure of working with Nikki Grahame last year! She was an absolute joy, an icon like no other and will be so deeply missed! RIP Nikki.”

Host & Executive Producer of Big Brother Canada Arisa Cox also said: “HEARTBROKEN to hear this devastating news that the incredible force of nature that is Nikki Grahame has passed away. We messaged some love to each other just a few weeks ago and I cannot believe this is happening. We love you Nikki.”

Nikki’s mum Sue had said her daughter’s battle with anorexia, which had begun at just six-years-old, had got worse during lockdown.

Speaking on This Morning she said: “Last year really put the cap on it, when the gyms closed it was quite a worry.

“The isolation, it’s been really hard for her, really hard. She felt very cut off and spending too much time on her own with not enough to think about other than food and that took a grip as well.”
