Nigel Farage vows to ‘annihilate’ Boris Johnson’s Tories if he pushes through fake Brexit based on May’s hated deal

NIGEL Farage has vowed to “annihilate” the Tories if Boris Johnson pushes through a fake Brexit based on Theresa May’s hated deal.

The Brexit Party leader has fired off a warning shot to the PM that Britain must leave the EU by October 31 – or the Conservatives will face the consequences.

Farage said that after May’s failure to get a deal through Parliament and Jeremy Corbyn’s “betrayal” of Labour Leave voters, only his party could be trusted to deliver Brexit.

He wrote in the Telegraph: “Britain’s best chance of achieving its independence now comes from the Brexit Party.

“The electoral threat it poses is such that, if the UK does not leave the EU on 31 October, the Conservatives can rest assured they will be annihilated in any subsequent general election.”

FARAGE WARNING

Johnson, who is in Northern Ireland for talks with DUP leader Arlene Foster, has impressed Brexiteer Tories for taking a tough stance with Brussels since he became PM.

He has refused to meet with EU leaders unless they scrap the controversial Irish backstop which was part of May’s despised Brexit deal.

But Farage is not convinced Boris, who voted for May’s deal after voting twice against it, is really committed to a hard Brexit.

He wrote: “My suspicion, though, is that all of his tough talk is part of a negotiating position to make Brussels give some ground on the Withdrawal Agreement or, more accurately, on a new EU treaty.”

Farage said the Brexit Party is now preparing for a general election with 150 candidates ready to fight for seats in Labour heartlands of Wales, the Midlands and the North of England.

NO PACT WITH TORIES

The Tories are concerned about the Brexit Party taking votes that could help them see off another challenge from Corbyn.

Previously the PM had reached out to the Brexit Party and suggested they could use their 29 MEPs to put pressure on Brussels.

But Farage has ruled out any future collaboration, in Westminster or Europe, with the Tories while Boris’ Brexit chief Dominic Cummings is in No10.

Cummings, who previously clashed with Farage when he ran the Vote Leave campaign three years ago, is believed to be the PM’s most trusted Downing Street official.

But Farage, who ran the rival Leave.EU splinter group, said he was not a “true believer” in Brexit and wanted Britain “bound to the EU”.

He told the Times: “He thinks we’re all cretins and members of the lower order,” Mr Farage said. “He has never liked me.

“He can’t stand the ERG [European Research Group of Brexiteer MPs]. I can’t see him coming to any accommodation with anyone.

“He has huge personal enmity with the true believers in Brexit.”
