Nigel Farage 'holds secretive meeting with BoJo backers at Mayfair private club'

Nigel Farage met backers of Boris Johnson at a plush Mayfair private members’ club, it is reported today.

The Brexit Party leader met Tory BoJo fan Priti Patel and DUP MP Ian Paisley Jr at 5 Hertford Street, according to the Mail on Sunday.

The alleged meeting is likely to fuel claims of a pact between the Tories and the Brexit Party if Farage wins seats in a snap election.

Last week Mr Farage said there is “a deal that could be done” if Boris Johnson – widely tipped to be the next Prime Minister – calls an election to kill off opposition in Parliament.

The club is renowned as one of the most secretive in London and is said to include Mick Jagger, Leonardo DiCaprio and Prince William.

Membership fees are reputedly £1,500 a year and its bohemian-style cocktail bar LouLou’s includes a stuffed giraffe.

Friends of Ms Patel, a hard Brexiteer who has said Boris Johnson is the only potential PM who can “deliver Brexit”, told the Mail on Sunday the meeting was “accidental” but “common ground” was found on Brexit.

Mr Farage last week told the Telegraph there are circumstances where he could form an electoral pact.

He explained this could happen if Parliament is trying to block a No Deal Brexit – so PM Boris Johnson responds by calling an election and forming a new Parliament.

Mr Farage said: “If he has the guys to be prepared to be voted down by Parliament, to call an election on a clean Brexit, then I would suggest that… logically there is a deal that could be done.

“And in those circumstances Boris would come back with a massive, massive majority.”

A source close to Boris Johnson pointed out he has already ruled out any coalition with the Brexit Party if he becomes Prime Minister.

A Brexit Party spokesman declined to comment.
