Nigel Bond admits his confidence was crucial to pulling off a shock upset against Judd Trump in the third round of the UK Championship.

Trump was in control of the match with a 3-1 lead but Bond won the next four frames in a row to put himself in contention of a surprise victory.

And the world No.98 sealed his win in a dramatic final frame with a superb pot on a long pink.

‘Obviously he’s the man of the moment. I’m 54… what am I doing?!’ Bond told the BBC after beating Trump.

‘I played some good stuff, I took a little bit of time to settle but when I did I felt good out there.

‘When I’m feeling good it’s there. I feel like I’m on the line, it’s just a case of timing it and hitting it good.

‘That’s been my problem, when you’re not winning matches you don’t feel confident, you’re a little bit tentative. I haven’t been scoring.

‘To be fair, Judd missed one or two, which obviously helped but I was just going out there to give a good account of myself and show people I can still play when it’s still there.’
