Nicole Trunfio completes her son Zion's racetrack-themed birthday cake

Nicole Trunfio stayed up late of Wednesday finishing one of two birthday cakes for her children ahead of their joint birthday party.

And on Thursday, she updated her Instagram followers on the progress of Zion’s cake, which had been left unfinished the night before.

In a series of videos, the heavily pregnant model documented the baking and decorating stages while working hard in the kitchen of her family ranch in Texas

Nicole iced several chocolate sponge cakes – which had been shaped into the number five, representing Zion’s fifth birthday on January 11 – with black frosting and black glitter to resemble a racetrack.

She then used the cream middles from Oreo cookies to create lines on the edible asphalt.

She told fans: ‘I’m really just making this up as I go with whatever I have. I’m not being too precious about it!’

She lined the edges with blue M&Ms and made edible sand out of crushed cookies.

Finishing off the elaborate design, Nicole threw on blue sprinkles and wrote her daughter’s name, ‘Gia’, using piped icing.

She had decided to throw a joint party for her children because their birthdays are just four days apart.
