Nicki Minaj surprised fans with a rare photo of her real hair over the weekend but it left them begging her to ‘keep it natural’ as she considered a perm.
The Super Bass rapper posted a selfie to Instagram on Sunday night with her face mostly hidden by her phone but her long, thick and luscious afro hair spilling down past her shoulders.
She wore a white glove on one hand and appeared to be preparing to use a relaxer kit which would straighten her natural hair.
In the caption, Nicki asked: ‘If I perm my hair it’s gon b touchin my booty. Should I perm it yall? Real hair to match my real big ol ghetto booty. Ugh love this for me [sic].’
Well fans loved it for her too and begged the rapper not to touch her healthy natural hair which could become damaged if she uses chemicals to straighten it.
Kelly Rowland pleaded: ‘DON’T do it!!!! Keep it natural!! Look at that gorgeous head of hair!!!’
Dancing With the Stars contestant Skai Jackson weighed in: ‘No perm 😭 your hair is beautifulllll. Let’s see it straightened 😍.’
Motivation singer Normani simply stated: ‘NOOOOOOOOOO.’
Dancehall artist Spice advised: ‘Keep it natural Queen. The perm damages it , and makes it easier for our edges to go missing 🤣🤣🤣 it’s stronger under our Wigs when it’s Natural.’
America’s Next Top Model star Winnie Harlow suggested: ‘Texturize it! Or use a curl loosing treatment, dnt perm it look at all that volume.’
Power actress Lala Anthony added: ‘Press it out and put it in a doubie.’
It’s not known if Nicki, 37, chose to remain au naturel or go for the perm but she did later film herself getting a wig installed as a protective style.
The Starships hitmaker opted for a pastel pink wig which was possibly in honour of her debut album Pink Friday, which celebrated its 10th anniversary last week.
Celebrating the milestone occasion of her iconic album, Nicki told her followers: ‘Happy 10 year Anniversary #PinkFriday 🎀 thank you guys for the support you showed this album. So grateful 🙏 Love you.’
The Grammy-winning rapper has been keeping a low profile in recent weeks after giving birth to her first child, a baby boy who she shares with husband Kenneth Petty.
