Nicki Minaj, Kylie Jenner and 50 Cent lead tributes for Pop Smoke as he dies aged 20

Tributes have poured in for rapper Pop Smoke, who has died at the age of 20, with Nicki Minaj, 50 Cent and Kylie Jenner among the stars sharing their condolences.

Pop Smoke, real name Bashar Jackson, was reportedly killed during an attempted robbery at his Hollywood Hills home in the early hours of Wednesday morning (19 February).

The news has devastated the music industry with Nicki Minaj, who remixed his breakout single Welcome To The Party, leading tributes.

Nicki wrote in an Instagram post: ‘The Bible tells us that jealousy is as cruel as the grave. Unbelievable. Rest in Peace, Pop.’

50 Cent said: ‘R.I.P to my man Pop Smoke, No sympathy for winners. God bless him.’

Chance The Rapper shared his condolences writing: ‘Rest Up Pop Smoke, you were too young. God Bless and comfort your family. What a crazy trajectory you were on man smh.’

Kylie Jenner tweeted: ‘Rest in peace pop smoke.’

British rapper Chip tweeting: ‘RIP POP SMOKE. Rap game f****d up man. Kid was 20. Kmt.

‘Bless his soul man he was really helping UK producers get on where he’s from. That’s a love shower. Life snatched away from him just like that. F****D UP!!!!!’

Comedian Michael Dapaah said: ‘RIP POP SMOKE….this is sad man. Death over a home invasion ?? Is this the extent people are willing to go for material gain smh… my sincere apologies & prayers to his family. Lord we need you !’

Krept from British rap duo Krept & Konan expressed his anger and tweeted: ‘Pop smoke wtf?? A home robbery. You want to kill a man for HIS things. F*****g scummy tramp s**t. RIP man thats f****d up.’

R&B singer Kehlani added: ‘Damn i meant to block someone n that shit deleteddddddddd

rest up pop smoke!! 20 years old, hella sweet FREAKISHLY talented. shit sick out here. prayers to his family forreal.’

Pop Smoke’s record label Republic reacted to the sad news and tweeted: ‘We are devastated by the unexpected and tragic loss of @POPSMOKE10. Our prayers and thoughts go out to his family, friends and fans, as we mourn this loss together.’

Universal Music Group added: ‘We are extremely saddened to learn of the tragic passing of Pop Smoke. He was incredibly talented, kind, and had a bright future ahead of him. Our hearts are with his loved ones and fans as we mourn this loss together.’
