Nickelback dragged into Trump feud with Bidens after US president shares doctored ‘Photograph’ video

Nickelback have been dragged into the row between US president Donald Trump and the Bidens after Trump shared a doctored video for the band’s song “Photograph”.

The clip was paired with a picture of Democratic rival Joe Biden‘s son, Hunter, golfing with Ukraine energy executives. The origin of the video is unclear, but Trump’s aides have previously shared clips found on pro-Trump sub-reddit accounts.

Trump accompanied the video with the tweet: “LOOK AT THIS PHOTOGRAPH!”

However, shortly after the video was posted it was removed from Twitter, likely due to a violation of copyright law.

This is the second time in a week that Trump has shared a video related to popular culture. On Wednesday 2 October, he prompted a response from the band A-Ha after fans drew comparisons between their video for “Take on Me” and a clip shared by Trump for his re-election campaign.

The US president’s behaviour on Twitter has been even more erratic of late amid the intensifying impeachment inquiry launched against him last week.

The inquiry was sparked in response to a whistleblower complaint regarding Trump’s phone call on 25 July with Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky, which revealed that Trump asked Zelensky to investigate his 2020 presidential rival Joe Biden and his son Hunter, based on unfounded corruption allegations.

The Independent has contacted a representative for Nickelback for comment.
