DIY SOS star Nick Knowles has confirmed he is spending Valentine’s Day single, after denying he was ever in a relationship with Emily Hallinan.
The presenter, 56, had been linked to PR executive Emily, 26, after they were spotted out for a meal and taking a trip to the theatre.
However, Nick also denied their relationship had ever been romantic after people assumed his original tweet had meant they had broken up.
He had posted: ‘Happy Valentine’s, And if you’re single like me don’t worry, we don’t have to join in everything every year. I missed national prune day too.’
When people assumed the post meant a recent break-up with Emily, Nick set the record straight, tweeting: Newspapers are hilarious, Apparently I’ve announced a split from someone I never said I was going out with. It’s like a paralleled universe’.
He added: ‘She’s as confused as me. Laughing but confused – as am I.’
Nick and Emily had been linked last year, after they were seen heading to the theatre to watch Everybody’s Talking About Jamie.
However, Emily’s parents, Philippa and Luke Hallinan had claimed in August that their daughter had said she was just friends with Nick.
They told the Daily Mail: ‘She told us about Nick – there is rather a big age gap between them! But we’ve not met him and I don’t think it’s likely we will meet him.
‘She told me about it, they are friends as far as I know. She met him through work, through a direct messaging thing, in her previous job.’
A source had told The Sun at the time: ‘They arrived pretty incognito but were definitely on a date inside. She was cosying up to him during the show and they shared a couple of tender moments during the emotional parts.
‘It didn’t appear to be a serious relationship but it’s clear that they were into each other.’
Well, at least Nick’s cleared that up once and for all.
