Nick Hewer, 77, 'ambushed' outside tube station as he shares disappointing fan interaction

Nick Hewer, 77, took to Twitter to share a unique meeting with a fan earlier today. The Countdown star admitted he had been “ambushed” in a disappointing interaction outside a tube station.

Nick is no stranger to fame, having been a stalwart of the small-screen for a long time.

The star first appeared as an advisor to Alan Sugar on The Apprentice.

Before his exit from the show in 2014, he also began hosting the Channel 4 show Countdown.

Despite his success, the former consultant was still shocked by a fan interaction.

“As someone in his 77th year who will be in his 10th year hosting the great British institution that is Countdown, I think it’s time to smell the flowers and get a dog.”

Nick added: “And a sincere thanks to our loyal viewers and of course the legions of contestants who battle their brains out for the chance of carrying off the Richard Whiteley Trophy or a priceless teapot.”

Elsewhere, Nick recently congratulated his former co-star Rachel Riley.

This comes after she gave birth to her second child with her husband Pasha Kovalev.
