Nicecactus Raises $5.5M Series A, Launches $1.1M Grassroots Esports Fund

Today, competitive gaming platform nicecactus.gg (previously Esport-Management.com), announced the closing of its €5M ($5.5M) Series A financing round. According to marketing director Nic van ’t Schip the financing will be put towards building and refining the company’s product offering, attracting top talent in Europe and North America, and scaling the business. The round was raised by a group of private investors, further financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

Additionally, the company revealed the launch of its $1.1M Nicecactus Grassroots Esports Fund, which will help amateur and semi-pro players and teams take the next step into professional gaming. The fund will support esports athletes with grants for travel to and accommodation at tournaments as well as booking bootcamps at professional training locations. Grantees will be selected based on their applications and performance in nicecactus.gg’s training programs.

The Esports Observer was told that the company will assemble a board of directors consisting of the internal leadership team and external partners to review and approve grant requests by Schip. He also explained that the Nicecactus Grassroots Esports Fund won’t provide loans that need to be paid back, but rather sponsorship grants that do not require repayment.

Established in 2017, nicecactus.gg supports aspiring pro and semi-pro gamers at all stages of their journey. The company is working with partners including DreamHack, G2 Esports, AS Monaco, and Magic Gaming, to offer a “comprehensive, inclusive, and supportive environment” for professional growth and development for gamers around the world.
