Hailee Steinfeld sent fans into total meltdown as she teased a ‘diss track’ about ex Niall Horan.

The Pitch Perfect star confirmed she has new music on the way, aptly titled Wrong Direction.

Many have taken this as shade thrown at the What Makes You Beautiful singer, who came to fame thanks to his former band, One Direction.

But, while their fans are trading blows on Instagram, Niall doesn’t seem all that fussed about it all.

In fact, an insider has insisted the 26-year-old isn’t ‘losing any sleep’ over the upcoming song, so we can all calm down now.

‘Niall is not losing any sleep over Hailee’s upcoming single. He knows the name of the game when it comes to music and these type of songs will happen from time to time, he’ll likely do it in the future himself,’ the insider said.

‘You have to write about what you know, whether it is heartache and heartbreak or the love of your life. This sort of thing is going to happen all the time and Niall is totally cool with whatever she has to do for her career, even if it ends up bashing him.’

The insider was also quick to squash rumours of any beef between the former couple, insisting the X Factor star is ‘really happy’ for his ex.

Which is nice.

‘Their split was hard, but time has passed and he has moved forward with it all and he believes she has as well,’ they added to Hollywood Life.

‘It feels that everything is water under the bridge at this point and Niall knows better than anybody else that artists use their music as a way to express themselves and he understands if she feels a certain way then she should be able to do the same.’

Niall and Hailee dated for around a year before calling time on their romance, back in December 2018.

And it seems as though the actress won’t be the only one lifting the lid on what went wrong in their romance through song.

Speaking about his eagerly-anticipated second album, he teased there could be some emotional tracks on the way.

‘I have stuff that I want to write about on my mind all the time,’ he told Billboard. ‘I had just gone through a break up, which helps when it comes to writing songs, I guess. It helps vent the emotions.

‘Going through heartbreak helped write the ballads, even some of the happy songs – the sad songs that are dressed up as happy songs sometimes.’

Metro.co.uk has contacted Niall’s rep for a comment.
